York College field hockey had a great week.
The Spartans took down Johns Hopkins 3-1 last week at home. Johns Hopkins is currently ranked No. 1 nationally and last year’s NCAA Division III champions.
But, even with their huge fortune, York (3-0) wasn’t the only college to make gains in week one of the Penn Monto and National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll. Both Bates and Hamilton climbed seven spots each and are also undefeated.
“The NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2023 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship,” according to the association.
New this year, “After two weeks of regular season competition, eligible teams must maintain a record of .500 or above to be eligible for ranking each week.”
