East Stroudsburg remains No. 1, Saint Anselm defeats Shippensburg to make biggest gain in Division II college field hockey: Penn Monto/NFHCA week 1

Saint Anselm bumped up three points in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II week one poll.

 

The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches. The association notes that it “has no bearing on selection to the 2023 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.”

 

Additionally, “After two weeks of regular season competition, eligible teams must maintain a record of .500 or above to be eligible for ranking each week.”

 

Saint Anselm defeated No. 2 Shippensburg on September 9 to move them up three points from the preseason poll.

 

Here are how the teams fared in week one:

 

10. Mansfield, 3-0, previously unranked

9. Newberry College, 3-0, previously unranked

8. Bloomsburg, 4-0, previously unranked

7. Mount Olive, 3-1, previously ranked 9

6. Millersville, 2-1, previously ranked 5

5. West Chester, 2-1, previously ranked 3

4. Saint Anselm, 2-1, previously ranked 7

3. Kutztown, 4-0, previously ranked 4

2. Shippensburg, 3-1, no change

1. East Stroudsburg, 5-0, no change
