Shippensburg takes over No. 1 spot in Division II field hockey in week six of NFHCA poll

After six weeks of sitting atop the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll sponsored by Penn Monto, Shippensburg bumps last year’s championship nemesis to No. 2.

 

Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg meet today at East Stroudsburg in a PSAC matchup.

East Stroudsburg recently fell to Bloomsburg 1-0. Bloomsburg moved up three spots after defeating last year’s national champions.

 

“The NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2023 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship,” according to the association. “After two weeks of regular season competition, eligible teams must maintain a record of .500 or above to be eligible for ranking each week.”

 

Here are the Division II field hockey teams that were ranked by coaches in week six:

 

10. Newberry College, 12-1, previous rank No. 9

9. Mansfield, 8-5, previous rank No. 7

8. Millersville, 9-4, previous rank No. 10

7. West Chester, 8-5, previous rank No. 4

6. Saint Anselm, 11-3, no change

5. Bloomsburg, 11-3, previous rank No. 8

4. Mount Olive, 12-1, previous rank No. 5

3. Kutztown, 10-2, no change

2. East Stroudsburg, 11-2, previous No. 1

1. Shippensburg, 12-2, previous No. 2
