Female Athlete News is proud to announce our initial list of high school field hockey coaches who have confirmed their participation in FAN’s first ‘PA Field Hockey Senior Cup.’
The senior cup will feature the commonwealth’s top high school field hockey athletes in an East vs West All-Star tournament. The event is slated for March 23 and 24. It will be held at Lower Dauphin Middle School in Hummelstown.
Pennsylvania is well-known for being home to some of the best high school field hockey in the country. Athletes have gone on to play in Division I, II, and III college field hockey programs.
Over half of the USA Women’s National Field Hockey athletes who qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics last week in Ranchi, India are from Pennsylvania. We, at FAN, believe in supporting our athletes, who often get their start and begin their journey at the high school level.
Also, behind those athletes are solid coaches, who dedicate hours to perfecting plays, supporting athletes’ development and achieving dreams.
FAN is still working with Pennsylvania high school coaches on finalizing their availability to participate in the March event. As of January 22, we are honored to say the following coaches have confirmed their participation:
Academy of Notre Dame
Brandi Ritz
Bishop McDevitt
Steve Heckman

Bayley Leonard

FAN published its first list of invited athletes on January 15. The event drew over 200 nominated athletes, who were selected by their respective high school coach. FAN partnered with the Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches Association in December to reach as many coaches as possible at public, private and independent schools that have a field hockey program.
The list is being updated daily to reflect the added schools that want to participate, as well as their invited athletes’ names. FAN has not been able to connect with every coach at every school across the state that offers field hockey.
We are asking that coaches who haven’t heard from us to please email us or submit nominees via our Google Doc. We can be reached at [email protected]. Our deadline to submit nominees is January 31.
As athletes learn of their invitation, we ask that they try to confirm participation by January 23, no later than January 31. Coaches will soon start to build rosters for the event. After athletes confirm their participation, the next time they will hear from an event volunteer or FAN will be on or before February 5.
