Why Ohio State? “While looking at colleges, I knew I wanted to be somewhere with a strong team culture, hard work ethic, and a competitive atmosphere. On and off the field, team culture is always my top priority. I am a firm believer that the teams with the best culture are the most successful because they work for each other and know how to push each other, all while constantly supporting one another. While at Ohio State, I knew this was the perfect spot, as I watched how the coaching staff has a unique relationship with each athlete. Additionally, the athletes hold each other to the highest standards. Along with the beautiful facilities and campus, there is an amazing environment on and off the field – a perfect level of competitiveness I need in my everyday life. I am excited to be challenged and continue to grow as an athlete at Ohio State.”
Describe a field hockey memory you won’t forget. And, why? “I will never forget my sophomore year playoff run. I play DCM, so as a sophomore, I was not much of an offensive presence, only scoring one goal before the District Championship. Gaining confidence during the game, I scored two goals to put us ahead of our league rival, ultimately achieving a 3-1 win, after losing and tying them in the regular season. I loved celebrating afterwards with my teammates and preparing for states. During states, we advanced to the State Championship. It was incredible watching our school come out and support our team each game while getting closer to my teammates every day. My memories are not necessarily from the games, but rather the fun we had at practice, the leadership that inspired me to be the person I am today, and the time I shared with family and friends before and after games. I will always remember the impact of my family’s support as a young starter, as well as how the upperclassman taught me to have confidence in myself and push my limits to reach my full potential.”
