Why ODU? “I chose to commit to Old Dominion because of the winning culture and the family atmosphere that the coaches and players foster. All three coaches are dedicated to helping each and every player grow and develop. I connected immediately with their coaching philosophy and values. Every time I visit I feel like I am at home because of how welcoming the coaches and players are. ODU has a long history of winning championships. I want to compete at the highest level and grow my technical and tactical skills. The strong academic programs and the amazing campus also drew me in.”
Describe a field hockey memory you won’t forget. And, why? “I won’t forget our (Boiling Springs High School Field Hockey) run to the District and State titles in the 2022 season. I remember that in the beginning of the season the team wanted to make a far run deep into postseason, but we were unsure of how it would play out. I remember taking it by each and every game to end up going 26-0 and winning the District and State Championships! I’ll never forget this because personally I grew as a player in my mental and physical skills along with our team making history and being the first District and State Championships in school program history. Last year, we were also the only undefeated team in the state.”
Athletes in the running are tasked to gather as many of their supporters as possible to vote for them. The winner we receive a $5,000 scholarship. The first $2,500 payment will be given to the winner before departing for college. The second $2,500 payment, which requires a 3.0 GPA, will be given to the winner at the start of the second semester.
