Out of the nine Junior Pan American field hockey tournaments held for women since 1988, team USA has attained the gold medal one time.
The 2023 U-21 USA women’s squad face off with one of the world’s best performers today at 3:30 p.m. at Wildey Hockey Centre in Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Saint Michael, Barbados.
Argentina knocked off the Americans 2-0 in the first contest of the tournament. But, the Junior Eagles rallied back to defeat Uruguay 4-1, earning them a spot at the Junior World Cup. Up next, USA outlasted Chile in shootouts. Regulation ended in a 1-1 draw. Shootouts ensued, in which the Junior Eagles dominated 2-0 placing the Americans in today’s championship game.
