U.S. Women’s National Indoor head coach Jun Kentwell names 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup roster

The 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup is just a few weeks away, and yesterday, the USA women’s head coach announced who would be playing in it.

 

“Having competed in the Rohrmax Cup just a few weeks ago, it was a great opportunity for us to evaluate all athletes to be considered for the 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup,” U.S. Women’s National Indoor Team Head Coach Jun Kentwell said in a statement. “More than half our roster has indoor world cup experience and I hope we can bring our familiarity and continued scoring drive to the world stage.”

 

The Rohrmax Cup was held in Austria at the beginning of January. The United Eagles won gold at the international tournament. The seventh Indoor World Cup will be held Feb. 3 to 9 at Žatika Sport Centre in Pore, Croatia.

 

The 2025 squad features a lot of young, returning talent. Sarah Johnson will be participating in her third World Cup, while Abby Burnett, Reese D’Ariano, Sierra Espeland, Annika Herbine, Sydney McGroarty, Opal Sparling, and Liz Tamburro all making their second appearance. D’Ariano, a sharpshooter on the floor, was named in 2023 the women’s young player of the tournament at age 15.

 

The No. 9 United Eagles are in Pool A with No. 2 Czechia, No. 8 Belgium and No. 26 Croatia. They open pool play on Monday, Feb. 3 at 3:40 p.m. ET against No. 2 Czechia. Then on Tuesday, Feb. 4 they face hosts No. 26 Croatia at 1:40 p.m. ET. Pool play concludes on Wednesday, Feb. 5 against No. 8 Belgium at 11:00 a.m. ET.

 

Pool B features No. 3 Austria, No. 7 South Africa No. 10 Poland and No. 18 Thailand. Pool C consists of No. 5 Australia, No. 6 Germany, No. 12 Namibia and No. 15 New Zealand.
