RECAP: Top-ranked teams in each district, celebratory milestones

Happy National Field Hockey Day, belated!

 

National Field Hockey Day was celebrated Sept. 14. Social media lit up with posts honoring the sport and what it’s given to its millions of players. Check the hashtag #NationalFieldHockeyDay to read insightful posts about the game.

 

Here is this week’s top-ranked teams around Pennsylvania and a few celebratory mentions.

 

District 1

CB West (5-0), Conestoga (6-0), and Downingtown West (6-1) hold the top three spots in 3A.

Mount St. Joseph (6-0), Villa Maria Academy (4-1), and Radnor (4-2) lead 2A while New Hope Solebury (5-0), Springfield Township (6-1), and Dock Mennonite (4-2) lead 1A.

 

District 2

Honesdale (4-0-1), Wyoming Valley West (5-1), and Wilkes-Barre (3-2) lead 3A rankings so far.

The top three in 2A are Abington Heights (3-0-1), Selinsgrove (4-2, District 4), and Dallas (5-2).

Lackawanna Trail (2-0-2), Wyoming Area (5-1), and Lake Lehman (3-1) hold the top spots in 1A.

 

District 3

 

There were several celebratory achievements this week that FAN noticed or we were notified of.

 

Newport’s Adi Geer reached her 100-point mark as a junior. Cedar Cliff’s senior goalie achieved her 500th save last Saturday in the Colts’ rivalry game against Red Land. And, West Perry senior Molly Zimmerman this week earned her 100th point in her high school career.

 

Penn ManorManheim Township, and Warwick claim the top spots in 3A all with undefeated records – 5-0, 6-0, and 4-0 respectively.

Palmyra (5-0), Ephrata (4-1), and Elizabethtown (5-1) hold the first, second, and third spots in 2A.

1A action is currently being led by Oley Valley (6-0), West Perry (7-0), and Bishop McDevitt (4-0).

 

District 4

Lewisburg (3-0), Midd-West (4-1), and Mifflinburg (6-1) rank at the top of the 1A leaderboard.

District 4 2A plays in District 2. Selinsgrove ranks second, and Shikellamy (2-4) ranks seventh.

 

District 7 (WPIAL)

In 3A, Pine-Richland has a 3-0 record with North Allegheny (1-2) and Peters Township (1-1) following behind while 2A’s Penn-Trafford (3-1) and Greater Latrobe (1-1) hold the top three spots.

 

District 11

Emmaus and Easton both have 7-0 records and rank first and third, respectively, in 3A. Parkland sits in the middle with a 4-0-1 record.

Southern Lehigh (6-1), Bangor Area (5-2), and East Stroudsburg – South (4-4) claim the top three spots in 2A.

Northwestern Lehigh (6-1) leads 1A followed by Lehighton (5-2) and Palmerton (5-3) in second and third.

 

District 12

In the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL), Archbishop CarrollArchbishop Wood, and Lansdale Catholic all have 1-0 records.
