NFHCA: Middlebury’s 43-game winning streak snapped by Tufts, remains No. 1 in week seven coaches poll

Middlebury field hockey has seemingly been untouchable season after season in recent years.

But, have you met Tufts? The 2024 Tufts field hockey team is the first Division III squad to snap Middlebury’s 43-game winning streak.

The win bumped up Tufts to No. 4 from No. 6. from last week’s coaches poll.

That is a commendable accomplishment considering Middlebury has set the standard in Division III, winning the NCAA tournament six years in a row.

According to the NFHCA, “the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll is a composite ranking of the top 20 teams with a .500 or better record in the nation each week. Each Division III team with an NFHCA member coach is permitted one vote for the ranking each week.

“Polls are announced every Tuesday during the field hockey playing season.

The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship.”

The following teams received the most votes cast by NFHCA members. The list is the team rank, name, record, and last position in last week’s poll. Bolded teams have moved position higher or lower from week to week.
