Why ODU? “I chose Old Dominion because I was able to connect with the coaches’ values. They took a firm stance on mental health for their players and had a great support system. When I was interacting with the coaches and players it felt as if everyone was valued, and the coaches took it into their own hands to help make each person a better player. At ODU they value hard work and resilience, which is similar to my own ethics on and off the field. When I saw the competitiveness and bonds within the team I knew I wanted to go there. Not only did their advanced field hockey program compel me to pursue Old Dominion, but their wide range programs as well.”
Describe a field hockey memory you won’t forget. And, why? “One field hockey memory I will never forget was during my junior year of high school. My mom was going to be inducted into the Bloomsburg field hockey Hall of Fame. During senior night, the moms had set up for me to walk down last and present my mom flowers and celebrate her being inducted (she is also one of the assistant field hockey coaches for my high school team). My teammates formed a tunnel for me to walk out of and when it was time, my mom joined me. We both started crying and I remember being so proud of her. She deserved this so much and I felt so lucky that I was able to share this special moment with her.”
