Several athletes promoted to USA Field Hockey’s senior indoor squads will debut their skills at the 2025 Rohrmax Cup, an annual international indoor field hockey competition held in Vienna, Austria.
The premier international event features a handful of FIH-ranked teams. The women are using the games to prepare for the FIH Indoor World Cup, set to take place in Pore, Croatia from February 3 to 5. The Rohrmax Cup runs from Jan. 2 to 5.
The USA women are currently ranked No. 9. They will compete in Pool A, which includes No. 2 Czechia, No. 8 Belgium, and Austria’s U-21 team, according to USA Field Hockey. In Pool B is No. 10 Poland, No. 12 Namibia, No. 26 Croatia, and SV Arminen, a professional field hockey club based in Vienna.
“Following three days of preparation, the Rohrmax Cup is going to be a strong test for our Women’s Indoor Team with games against our Indoor World Cup rivals,” Indoor USWNT head coach Jun Kentwell said in a press release. “Charly Bruder will taste her first senior international experience and Maddy Orsi comes back into the team. We are going to miss Ryleigh Heck, who has been selected to travel to New Zealand with the Women’s Outdoor Team. Her vision and reading of the game were pivotal in our Indoor Pan American Cup success.”
The roster has a Pennsylvania-heavy presence, including the University of North Carolina’s head coach Erin Matson. Matson returned to international field hockey play last year at the 2024 Indoor Pan American Cups.
