2023 Sunshine Showcase reports highest participation rate: USA Field Hockey

Despite the Disney-themed brackets, the 2023 Sunshine Showcase was anything but cute.

Thousands of field hockey players spent three days at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at the Walt Disney World Resort in late January. They competed against their cohorts in USA Field Hockey’s national tournament.

“Many games were decided by a thrilling shootout, where field players and goalkeepers alike were able to showcase their individual skills in front of crowds of fans and college coaches,” according to USA Field Hockey.

It was the highest club participation rate since the inception of the annual event, which was presented by Team IP. A total of 240 teams competed.
