The names of women’s field hockey athletes invited to compete in the second Junior National Camp were published Thursday.
Athletes from across the country were selected to take part in a three-day training camp held in Charlotte, N.C., according to USA Field Hockey. From there, coaches and staff narrowed down the players to a second camp list.
“I am inspired by the level of talent displayed at camp,” U-21 USWNT Head Coach Ange Bradley said in a press release. “Those advancing to the next stage have shown exceptional promise as we continue to shape the future of USA Field Hockey. Manuel and I are excited to move forward with this group and look forward to building a team that will represent our country with pride and excellence on the international stage.”
Athletes that accept the invitation will compete for a spot on the U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team. The tryout is Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. It will held at the U.S. Performance Center turf on the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus.
The official U-21 roster will be announced this Spring. The selected athletes will then participate in training camps and compete for a spot on a travel roster for one of several events the U-21 USWNT will be participating in this summer, according to USA Field Hockey.
