Top three field hockey teams in each PIAA District: power rankings

The 2024 Pennsylvania high school field hockey season began with its usual gusto of high scores, intense defensive and goalie saves, and penalty corner plays that make one gasp.

With nine more weeks to play until the PIAA state championships at Cumberland Valley High School, athletes are pumping out hard work for their respective team.

Early September has already open the door to some teams receiving validation on their efforts from Pine-Richland coming in hot scoring 15 goals against Hempfield Area and following that up by defeating State College at Penn State 2-0 (played on water-based turf). West Perry, in Class 1A, which rarely ever plays Palmyra, Class 2A, upset the Cougars 3-2 over the weekend.
