NFHCA: West Chester joins top four in week three of Division II coaches poll

Seven teams reshuffled in week three of the Division II National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll.

 

Three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams continue to hold the top three spots: Shippensburg, Kutztown and East Stroudsburg, respectively.

 

West Chester moves higher after continuing its three-game winning streak. And, taking its first PSAC conference 6-2 win against Slippery Rock over the weekend.

 

PSAC conference games are now underway. West Chester’s is at Bloomsburg this afternoon at 4 p.m.

 

According to the NFHCA, “The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll is a composite ranking of the top 10 teams with a .500 or better record in the nation each week. Each Division II team with an NFHCA member coach is permitted one vote for the ranking each week.

 

Polls are announced every Tuesday during the field hockey playing season.

 

The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.”

 

Here are the Division II teams ranked in the week two poll. Teams that are in bold have moved either up or down.

 

10. Mount Olive, 5-3 (9)

9. Mansfield, 5-3, (10)

8. Newberry College, 6-1 (7)

7. Assumption, 5-3, (6)

6. Southern New Hampshire, 6-1 (7)

5. Bloomsburg, 8-2 (4)

4. West Chester, 7-2 (5)

3. East Stroudsburg University, 7-1 (3)

2. Kutztown University, 6-1 (2)

1. Shippensburg, 7-0 (1)
