The Big 10 college field hockey semifinals take place today.
All of the conference games are being held at the University of Maryland.
Today’s games start at 1 p.m. with the No. 4 seed Rutgers playing the No. 1 seed Northwestern. The second game begins at 3:30 p.m. and features the No. 3 seed Michigan versus the No. 2 seed Maryland.
Here’s how the teams got there:
The tournament began Thursday. Rutgers took down No. 5 Ohio State 2-1. Kara Heck scored both goals for the Scarlet Knights, while Makenna Webster had the lone goal for the Buckeyes.
Maryland faced off against No. 7 Iowa, where they won in 1-0 in shootouts. The Hawkeyes’ goalkeeper Mia Magnotta made 17 saves, but it wasn’t enough.
Michigan beat No. 6 Indiana in a 2-1 overtime thriller. The Wolverines held onto an early lead. Kate McLaughlin scored a goal, but then in the fourth quarter Iowa pulled its goalkeeper, which led to a Sydney Keld goal. Esmee de Willigen notched the overtime goal to give Michigan the win.
All games are streaming on the Big Ten Network.
